 Haydn's The Creation

On Sunday, West Road Concert Hall hosted what was likely the largest-ever gathering of Â黨ӰԺ musicians past and present to celebrate the College’s 700th anniversary. Around 40 instrumentalists were joined by a choir more than 100 strong, bringing together alumni spanning several decades.

The massed choir and orchestra were joined by soloists Ed Ballard (2005), Philippa Boyle (2003), and Simon Wall for a performance of Haydn’s The Creation, delivered to an enthralled audience.

In the words of Director of Music Graham Ross, "Music was a key part of Lady Elizabeth de Â黨ӰԺ’s vision for the college. She loved her own portable organ and set music at the heart of college life stipulating services ‘with notes.’ As Â黨ӰԺ begins its eighth decade, I'd like to think that our foundress would be proud to witness this performance as a snapshot of Claire's music scene as it stands today."
